The new State Eligibility Dates for Kindergarten Are:
- For the 2012-13 school year the child must turn five on or before Nov. 1
- For the 2013-14 school year the child must turn five on or before Oct. 1
- For the 2014-15 school year and beyond, the child must turn five on or before Sept. 1
State Eligibility Dates for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Are:
- For the 2012-13 school year the child must turn five between Nov. 2 & Dec. 2
- For the 2013-14 school year the child must turn five between Oct. 2 & Dec. 2
- For the 2014-15 school year and beyond, the child must turn five between Sept. 2 & Dec. 2
Any child who will be five years of age on or before October 1, 2013, is eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year. Los Alamitos Unified School District wants every child to be prepared for success in school. To ensure that kindergarten children are fully able to achieve success in the increasingly rigorous, State-standards-based curriculum, we are offering Transitional Kindergarten in addition to our regular kindergarten.For more information on Transitional Kindergarten, see the Transitional Kindergarten page.
Kindergarten Tours
Parents are encouraged to attend one of the Scheduled Kindergarten tours at each of our six elementary schools in February. Each school has three tours scheduled in February. Click on the Kindergarten Tour flyer below for more information.

School Tours are for adults only and last approximately one hour.
Kindergarten Registration 2013-14 School Year
Kindergarten Registration week is March 4 - March 8, 2013. After March 8, please call the school office to schedule an appointment to register. Click on the Kindergarten information flyer for information specific about each school below to learn more information regarding registration at the desired site.
We are delighted to register your child for school and begin the exciting journey of academics and personal growth together. The following registration forms can be completed interactively within the template darkened areas, then press print; or you may print the blank forms to complete by hand. The registration forms must be completed in one session. The information cannot be saved as a file for later access. Click on the appropriate link below and allow at least one minute for the pages to download. There are 20 pages in the kindergarten registration packet.
